Empire apples are red with some faint white tints and creamy white interior. It’s juicy, crunchy and sweet. They are a cross between McIntosh and Red Delicious. They are a great apple to take with you places because they don’t bruise easily. They were derived in 1945 by Lester C. Anderson, a Cornell University fruit nutritionist who conducted open pollination research on his various orchards.
