Piñata^® Apples

Piñata^® apples, just like the name implies, are a variety of apples with a surprise flavor – a tropical twist. In the 1970s, researchers in Dresden-Pillnitz, Germany crossed three heirloom apples: Golden Delicious, Cox’s Orange Pippin and Duchess of Oldenburg to create the Pinova cultivar, which is now known by its trademark name, Piñata^®. Piñata^® is one of the most versatile apples on the market today. This apple thrives in eastern Washington’s arid climate and is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after apples due to its versatility. Its crisp bite and refreshing sweet flavors of vanilla and pineapple make it ideal for eating fresh out-of-hand, while its thin skin and fine-grained texture makes it a great choice for salads and baking. Piñata’s^® are snazzy inside and out; bright red and hints of yellow-orange on the exterior and bright white on the inside.
